Someone gave us a child's bike for Cameron. Its in GREAT Shape except a few spots of rust on the chrome. We would like to spiff it up and give it to him for Easter. Any ideas on removing rust?

It's easiest just to sand it off, then paint over it. After you sand it, make sure you brush it off, so the spots are clean and no dust before you paint. It won't taken much pressure - a wire brush will do the trick to sand it, no fancy equipment necessary.

Some folks swear by "Coke" (Coca-Cola) poured over and rubbed onto rust spots
to remove the rust and slow down reappearances of the stuff.
Kinda depends on just how big the spots are - little or tiny pin-spots clean up
very well with the Coke treatment - then wash, dry, and WAX the area.
If you sand & paint, you'll have to do the entire piece (fender) - including the
non-rusted areas. Paint won't stick very well unless the chrome surface is
"roughed up" with sandpaper or a wire brush.
---OR---
Get some Vinyl cartoon characters to "stick" on top of the rust spots.
A truly "Custom Ride" look!

Who'da thunk it ??
Ever been driving at night, in the rain, and find you can't see the hood ornament
because of the streaks and glare on your windshield?
Yupperz, you need to find a COKE machine!
"Regular" or "Classic" Coke works best ...
Buy a 12 ouncer (a 20 oz if you want a sip or two for yourself);
Turn OFF the wipers;
Pour the Coke on the top of the windshield,
and *RUB* it in with you free hand;
Be sure to get some on the wiper blades;
Hop back in the Bus and turn the wipers on ...
After a couple os *swishes* ... YEE-HAW = no streaks / no glare!!
Imagine what Coca-Cola does to your stomach???
I've also heard that about C-C.

DO NOT BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE!!
You're all forgetting that we human beings are acidic ourselves! That's why the Coca Cola doesn't damage our guts normally. That's why we have to careful about touching things like brass, etc - the oil from your skin is acidic enough to do damage. Remember way back when the biggest marketing phrase for shampoo was "try our new non-alkalai forumla" - well, that just sounds prettier than "our new acidic formula" but they mean the same thing!

Coke!?! Yowza!
Cameron will love the idea that soda cleaned his bike! Grandmom and grandpop are just so MEAN because we have good stuff like orange juice and fresh brewed tea. So, yeah, he'll be thrilled to see soda made its way into the house!
I knew PT would know how to fix the rust.
