I don't disagree w/you. However, it was a custom, as you call it, that people didn't deviate from for fear of going to hell. At least that's what my Catholic friends told me and they were dismayed when they were told that there was a new ruling on the matter. It isn't my intention to find fault w/religion nor to argue. I've made my point.

Your Catholic friends were wrong in labeling that as a mortal sin. I don't
want to argue either. Peace.
