It looks great! Our new house has hardwood floors. I hate them!

I call them softwood floors -- we have managed to scratch and ding them so much. I sure miss the laminate floors at our old place!

Engineered wood or actual wood? My hallway is an engineered wood the rest is laminate. The engineered wood is warmer and easier on the feet then the laminate.

I worked on alot of houses in town, who was the builder?
    I have a HUGE SIG!!!!

They are actual wood. I think the contractor said they were maple. They were installed about 2 years before we bought the place.

Don't know who built it. It's actually older than the house we just sold. I just meant it was "new" to us. It needs a lot of work, but we are very happy there.

If the house was built after 92 Ild really like to find out the builder to see if I worked on it. Ill be in Anchorage next week and the following week taking classes, even if I didnt work on it I might be able to find out who built it.

The house was built in 1981. Don't know how many owners it has had to date, but the folks right before us installed the wood floors. They didn't get a chance to finish off the closets and put molding on. So, we've doing that. When we moved in, we noticed a few compressions in the floor. There was a scratch here and there, but nothing major. I've managed to pop out the compressions for the most part with a steam mop. But, the major (to me -- husband thinks it's no biggie) are the gouges in the dining room. When we moved in, one of the feet came off of the couch. So, the screw scratched the floor when we slid the couch across the floor. Steaming helps the appearance for a while, but then the gouges are back. A guy I work with refinishes floors. He's going to take a look to see if he can make some improvement.

    Your floor looks great.
