I bet you love corn, Karen!! YAY!! Something you can eat. I love corn too but not that canned creamed corn. I think it tastes weird. My mother makes a delicious southern creamed corn that's to die for.
I think Aaron is pretty humble, for the most part. I love his recipes and the soft side of his personality. He's a chef and not a performer. Maybe FN decided to tone him down. Watch it and see what you think.![]()
I've been Boo'd...
Thanks Barry!
LOL, CC is another thing I grew up with. CC, SPAM and Mac and Cheese....I could grow old and never eat them again, But, I when I do I think of my poor Dad...

Did anyone watch CHOPPING BLOCK?
What was that all about, and why are all European restauranteurs patently evil?
The judge/host looked like he smelled-HAHAHAHAHAHA-my mom used that saying when she saw someone on the tube that looked relatively unkempt.

I'll give AM another chance this weekend!
I can't wait to hear what all you guys think of AM's show. Comments welcome.
I had Chopping Block on and I got a phone call. I missed the whole show.
I've never really eaten Spam. I think it has almost a cult following(if I can call it that). There are Spam festivals, etc. Some people love it. There are all kinds of recipes. Maybe I need to check that out too.
How did you eat it, Richard? Plain, fried, in a casserole ? What are the ingredients in it?
I've been Boo'd...
Thanks Barry!

Thanks Barry!
Im a fan of Spam and eggs, fried Spam, Spam and Mac & Cheese.....
FN enthusiasts, did I see Adam from last year's "Next Food Network Star" on the channel recently? I think he got burned by FN when they took his idea for a show and went with it with someone else as host.
Praying for peace in the Middle East, Ukraine, and around the world.
I've been Boo'd ... right off the stage!
Aaahh, I have been defrosted! Thank you, Bonny and Asiel!
Brrrr, I've been Frosted! Thank you, Asiel and Pomtzu!

When I was a teenager, my dad would get Surplus Spam which is an even, um, less quality grade than commercial Spam, if you can imagine. My mom would pack my school lunch and the kids could smell me comin'. Just thinking about it today makes me gag. Some Surplus goods were tasty; the butter was really good and chicken in a can was, too, believe it or not. Open the can and an entire cooked chicken would come out; great for soup. But Spam? Forget it. It always reminded me of congealed brain matter, not that I would know what the looks like. (Have I sufficiently whetted your appetite?)![]()

Just saw an ad for the new season of DINNER IMPOSSIBLE....
They put Chef Symon out to pasture and guess who the host of the show is going to be now????
Thanks Phred,
I was trying to get people to try it before they became too inquisitive!
I had Spam, cubed, in M&C. It gave it a good salty flovor.
I have never tried the other SPAM flavors...One of these days?
Spam is huge in Hawaii!

MY fave SPAM story is seeing a food bank asking for donations at the front of a store one day. I bought two cans for them.....If I had to eat it.....![]()

Spam... that's like the PA Dutch Scrapple, but made out of regular pork products, not the smoked pork.
Still not very yummy. And like Spam, made out of the "scraps" of the pig.
HOWEVER... if I'm really craving food from home, I will go to my mom and dad's and have them get some of the scrapple out that their friends make when they butcher. That's the only kind I'll eat (I know what they put in it, so to speak).
I remember being really broke and eating fried spam and mustard sandwiches.
We saw Chopping Block - we are watching "Last Restaurant Standing" on BBC America, and I though the description sounded like an American version of that show. Same "couples" compete - one 'front of house' and one cook on each team. In the British version of the show, though, it's a French chef, Raymond Blanc, leading the British teams, so I guess you need to have a foreign accent to be the big baddie on a restaurant competition?
It looks interesting - but in the American version, there are just two restaurants, in the Brit version, each 'team' gets their own restaurant to try to run.
