    Eli's getting X-rays

Will be dropping Eli off at the Vet's tomorrow morning at 745 and he'll be gone all day through the afternoon. We're getting X-rays taken of his back. Ever since we got him (2 years ago this March), he's had a rather bumpy spine. We asked initially when we took him in for a check up and they didnt think anything of it. Said he was just a puppy, will fill out, etc. Well he's never fattened up enough to cover the protruding vertebrae so we're getting it looked at. He doesnt have a smooth, flat back like most other dogs. He always looks a little like his back is arched up some.

He's also been real uncomfortable these last few days. He's sighs a lot when he lays down and doesn't seem to want to play much with Bunny. And Saturday morning he wasnt real into his food either.

Wish him lucky tomorrow.. as they have to put them under to take the X-rays.

Awww, I hope everything comes out okay for Eli.
You know, my friends Boxer has the same thing with her spine. But I don't think it is bothering her and she is 3 years old. She is very skinny but eats good.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Pawsitive thoughts for Eli. I hope whatever it is with his back isn't serious.

Dropped him off this morning. Looks like theyre going to get Xrays of his lower back, hips and knees.

Sure is lonely without him.. lol. Even though I still have two others here with me.

    Thoughts and prayers going out for Eli and family. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

I hope it's nothing serious. It's better to be safe than sorry though.

    Your crew is adorable.

Good luck Eli. I hope it's nothing that can't be easily fixed.

Well I just called and he's done and doing fine. We're going to pick him up at 445, so I'll post again with the results. =)

    He's home.

Well the vet said it looks like arthritic degeneration... its noticeable back near his hips, along a couple lower back vertebrae and two places near his front shoulders. He says the arch in his spine is probably due to him overcompensating because of the loss of flexibility. He's going to show his Xrays to a radiologist when they come in later this week and see what they think.

He doesnt think it could be fixed with surgery, but probably helped with some physical therapy. He gave us Deramaxx to give to him for the next week to see if that helps any.

"But Mom.. I'm not ready for pictures yet!"

    "Ok.. Ok.. One good one."

And here's one of his spine, where you can see the protrusions in the middle of his back, although thats not the cause of the problem.

I find this all pretty weird, as he's only a little over 2 years old. We'll be emailing the breeder he originally came from, just to let her know about it.

Thanks for all your support!! =)
