Thanks so much for the tip on letter openers - I have one at work and never considered it to be a kitchen tool - wonderful idea.

have been thinking of this for a few days as I work in the kitchen and came up with one I seem to use constantly and that is a plain old pair of scissors. Just fixed a salad to go with lunch and grabbed them to snip a boiled egg and green onions. It is so much quicker than getting a knife and cutting board out for small preps. I have two pairs and one is always in the dishwasher and another is handy to use.

The coffee pot is probably the next thing I could not live without.

My favorite pot is a big ole enamel coated saucepan - very heavy and nice to use.
