I find a lot of time when we take Chopper out on the Harley during our stops people are always amazed to see a chihuahua who is not shaking and trembling constantly, wearing clothes and doggles and who will allow everyone to pet him without snaping or growling. I then get to go into how well socialized he is and why dogs that behave that way have their owners to blame, not the dog. I push socialization for this breed every chance I get. I have no problems when someone comes up and says wow my chihuahua does not act like that, he barks all the time and doesn't like anyone, I just come right out and say then he was not well socialized. They might not like the answer but it is the truth. I have turned a lot of people into chihuahua lovers once they see how the breed can really be with the right guidance. I so hate when he is stereotyped by "oh a chihuahua", but so love it when they see what a chihuahua really is. I have even had people ask what breed he is. When I answer chihuahua I get the o_O look and they usually state, really, wow, I have never seen one so calm and quiet and friendly. then my speech starts all over again.
