Shelby, what a delightful little one you are! I know squirrels are VERY soft, and I could almost feel your lovely coat in those photos. You sure are one lucky baby, to have found such a special home to take you in. And I bet Avery just can't imagine life without you either, lol.
Growing up, we had large pine trees in our back yard. One Spring there was a terrific storm with lots of wind, and a squirrel nest dropped out of the tree to the ground. three baby squirrels were in there! Their eyes were open, so they were a bit older than you were when found.
Dad found a box, and put them in there; he left the nest outdoors as those nests get pretty dirty with wee ones in there! Mom warmed milk and we fed them with eye droppers for 48 hours until the winds calmed down. We did have to put a top on the box, they were that young they didn't try to escape. We left them in the garage overnight, didn't want them too used to human smells, or the warm indoors. Momma squirrel would come tap on the garage window for her babies! Once the winds stopped, we put the box outside, tipped on its side. We put it where we could watch from the picture window. Momma was right in there with her wee ones! We saw those babies playing in our back yard all that summer. Aw.
Those photos of you, especially your baby picture, are wonderful. I hope you have a very special kind of day, with lots of the things you love. It is quite an honor, you are our Pet of the Day!
