I just saw a segment on CNN about saving money during the holiday season.

One viewer sent an email and said that she was going to send "e-cards" to save on the costs of cards and postage.

At the least a package of construction paper, envelopes, postage and some colored pens costs less than 25-30 bucks? A few hours of sitting down - writing a line or two, addressing an envelope and tossing on a stamp?

I would rather get a plain sheet of white paper all done up with colored pens or, as Karen suggested, a post card with a line or two on it, than a real fancy card.

Don't get me wrong, I love to get the cards, but each one is as special as the next. I know that all the effort put into them is sincere and really appreciated.

And I had to wonder how much the woman who sent the email to CNN how much she well spend on gifts this year.
