Hmmm... good question Jackie..made me think a bit about Cody. I was an easy target, very non-alpha for about 2 years. When I asserted myself there was a huge personality change. He knows he can get me to do anything with those big browners, a slap, a soft whine but when I look at him with a no or don't you dare he averts my eyes and obeys. He has selective obedience sometimes too. A plain "come" without a purpose (ie:food, ball) is useless. Who knows what goes through their adorable lil heads? LOVE? Of course! Whether he obeys me, pulls me, barks at me, I KNOW without a doubt that he loves me as unconditionally as I do him. If I don't come home til very late, I get ignored which makes me cry, but I think because he loves me, relies on me, he gets mad because I'm not with him. I take it as a compliment. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to be followed around the house or have my hugs and kisses reciprocated with doggy saliva all over me or a paw wrapped around my arm as I rub a belly!! It fills me with such inexplicable joy. I'm very affectionate and luckily so is Cody. I think all living creatures have their own personality and moods but it doesn't mean any less love. Kind of humanly....
