I live with a veteran - he did two tours in Vietnam.
I live with a veteran - he did two tours in Vietnam.
To all the Vets on this board thank you. Please extend my grattitude to all the Vets you all know. Please remember my boss Jim this Veterans Day and keep his family in your prayers.
My dad, my uncle, and my dentist all served in Viet Nam. One of my dads best friends lost his leg serving in the USMC.
There have been family members in the military every generation in my family back to the Civil War, and we have two living veterans and one currently serving.
I also know many veterans to whom I am not related. We owe them all our thanks for their service.
And remember, folks - the military does far more than fight wars.
My mother and my brother are both veterans. My brother was in the Navy from 1982 to 2002, and saw all kinds of stuff overseas.
My mom is actually doing something with her school retiree association for the soldiers in her county that are currently in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other areas of conflict. She started this last year, but is doing it again this year, where the school retiree association is buying Christmas Trees for all their families. I know they help out with dinners and stuff too.
I thought that was a really neat idea.
Anyone on here get involved in helping out the soldiers over there now, or the veterans, or know of other groups that do that? It feels good to give back in different ways.
A *SALUTE* to ALL Veterans - Past & Present ...
and to My Dad - Lieutenant Colonel Jack E. M... - who served as
a Combat Engineer with the US Army Corps of Engineers in WW II.
Dad built some of the first US Assult Airfields on the Pacific Islands of
Guam, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa.
God Bless the USA!
