I don't care what they call it, I just want the person I love the most to be able to be in a damn hospital room with me and other such rights. How is that so hard?

BTW: how is allowing a marriage between two consenting adults of any gender going to lead to the marriage between siblings and parents/children? That's a totally spereate issue that's not being brung up yet. You are being irrational.

A similar amendment (#2) is on the ballot in Florida (about defining the word marriage between a man and a woman).

Even though I consider myself to be a Roman Catholic, I voted NO because I don't feel confortable thinking that I would have the right to judge what a person can or cannot do with thier life and who they spend it with.
I am not God, nor is anybody else on this earth so we really shouldn't even have the choice of telling people with whom they can spend thier life with.

I can understand where you are coming from popcornbird and I respect that too but religion aside, who makes the rules here? We are mere mortals.

I also voted NO because I think it really doesn't have anything to do with "gay" marriage as opposed to domestic partnerships (wheather it's a man/woman, man/man, woman/woman). If the Amendment passes, the civil rights of these people would be restricted.

As of now, it is estimated that Florida has 160 thousand domestic partnerships of which gay couples are only about 40 thousand. Why would I want to restrict someone from seeing thier loved one in a hospital in case of emergency or tell them they can't have survivor benefits when one or the other passes on, among many other things, just because they are not married or because they are gay?

Like who really cares about what goes on in someone's home?

People have made this a 'battleground' topic/amendment from the start.

I could really give a flying handshake about who, what, when and where.

Kee-rist, we get so uppity about where people park their bodies at night it makes me want to laugh and ask them about what else people Oppose/Rubberstamp.

Listen very carefully when a politician gets busted for ----------(fill in your crime of choice here). Chances are the spouse is holding down the fort while Mr. Politics is misbehaving with his constituents. And don't forget the tearful press conference with the missus and kids standing by, the admission to the ----------Clinic (insert your disease of choice here) and a triumphant return to public office. Chances are the biggest proponents of the law are sinners/FAs/liars and morons-guilty of the thing they detest the most.

Guilt, It a mind and soul cleanser!

I found myself feeling very excited too. The lady at the election site told me to "save my ticket. This could be a historic event". I think it already is. I'm nervous too...I sure hope ________ wins!

Gotta love grand opening promotions on the sidewalk outside village hall. I wrote in a bunch of my teachers and such for local government. These people are going to win because they are running against themselves, I might as well tell the state I'm bored with them. WI seems to be stuck in a noaction-jackson rut, sure we're a well-oiled state, but we're not moving forward or backward very fast.
