I agree with you, lute. I am not too fond of it either. I liked our division by function. And I really do not like the Group title of Northern breeds, although I must quite biasedly that I think they are the most beautiful dogs in the show they are not really related in form or function.

I am also surprised to see the number of breed clubs that have applied for admission to the AKC. For example, I love the Leonberger, and will love getting to see them when I go to shows, but I am surprised that the parent club would have wanted admission to the AKC.

Um, where does the Dalmatian fit in? They are essentially the everything dog, a jack of all trades.

Oh, never mind, I like how they are in working. I always thought the fact that they are in the non sporting group was still from 100 years ago where anything that wasn't it the sporting group was thrown into the non sporting, and they were never moved out.

The person who posted this on another board said this about it

This is in stone now.....it has passed the AKC Board and is a done deal......according to the delegate it could go into effect as early as 6 months....just depends on how soon they get it set up. Lots has to be set up behind the scenes too I am sure. Such as computer programs, superintendents, etc.
I like how the shar pei is now a northern breed.... lol umm yeah...

I also agree that the swedish valhund belongs in the herding group. I dunno... will be weird getting used to it. Will also be weird for those who show in AKC and CKC, which as far as I know hasn't changed at all.

    *Thanks Ashley*

It did already pass?!?! I heard about this about 4 months ago at a show. No one thought they would actually do it. AKC has really turned upside down.
