In my opinion, a photo host would be easier, since you don't need to learn how to FTP files since most photo hosts let you upload directly from your hard drive. But...be careful which photo host you pick - so many now don't allow direct linking to photos, meaning people will have to visit your album there to see pics - they won't allow you to post pictures hosted there directly in the messages here.
