Yes, there is a such thing as live rock and live sand. It is rock that you buy that has living organisms on it that help your salt water tank cycle out. And if you have a reef tank it is what the corals attach to and live on.... below you can kinda see my husbands reef tank... it has live rock stacked up the center... it is real prettty but ..... a lot of work..
