I was in my 30's before I cut my hair 9other than trims). Went from long enough to sit on, to shoulder length. I remember in the shower trying to squeeze the water out down the length and . . . it wasn't THERE!

I think the shorter hair makes you look younger as well. I like both cuts on you too.
