Almost to the final straw :(

I tried Clomicalm with Rocky last year and it didn't help, made him act kind of drugged and when he came off it he was even more aggressive. On top of that I have to get it compounded here at a special pharmacy that is many miles away and it costs a lot. I'd rather try the Prozac if it is generic and cheap.

I know a lot of people have had luck with a communicator but I don't really believe in that kind of thing. Don't get me wrong though, I'm glad she has helped a lot people here.

I like the idea of the web cam to try to catch the culprit and also the flourescein. I'm also willing to shut Moxie up to see if the peeing stops. Once we know who I'm all for Prozac and I'm sure my vet will agree to it.

I saw Decker sniffing funny around a cardboard cat scratcher this morning and turns out someone has "marked" it with a few potent drops. This has got to end!

I have a vet appointment tomorrow afternoon for Jazz and Scout's annual so we will discuss all this then. She already knows we are having major problems.

I'm sorry to hear that about the Clomicalm. I wonder if maybe the dosage was too high. My pee cats get only 5 mg. before bed and it lasts for 24 hours. But hey, if Prozac works, go for it. I would. If the day ever comes when Clomicalm stops working on my cats, on to Prozac. Good luck. I hope this is resolved for you soon.

Lori, I'm with you on the communicator idea! I agree that the Prozac would be the better solution! Hang in there, and don't forget I'm only an e-mail, PM or phone call away!

Since the Clomicalm I used was a cream to rub in his ear the dosage amount was different but I did talk to the vet about the dosage maybe being too high so we tried reducing it but in the end it just seemed like Clomicalm made Rocky paranoid and more aggressive. I think KAK had the same problem when she tried it with her cats. I had so hoped it would work for me like it has for you. If I could get the oral Clomicalm around here I would be willing to try it on Moxie and Decker but my vet only calls in the compound cream and it's too expensive.

So far I think I know who it is but I've never been able to catch her. I was wondering since we are discussing pee does anyone have any tricks to get that smell out of a carpet!

This area by my door someone keeps peeing on and I can smell it in the morning and it's gross.

Also, she decided to pee on my wood stand, can you get pee out of wood??

I use an enzyme cleaner called Urine Gone. You can buy it at Bed Bath and Beyond or here in Ohio even in Giant Eagle grocery store. Get as much urine out of the carpet as you possibly can, then saturate the stain w/Urine Gone, scrub it well, saturate it again and scrub it again. As for wood, I've used it on wood but it's important to clean it immediately. Once it soaks into the wood, it can become warped very quickly and it holds the odor, too.

Just my thoughts (from afar).

Decker is LESS likely to be the mad peer as I have found the shyer, less dominant animals to be less likely to have the need to mark territory. Unless, of course, if another cat is preventng them from using the box (if the peer always getting ambushed or attacked at the time of pottying.)

Moxie is more likely to be the culprit as a female trying to be alpha. Especially when you say Scout (another female) gets picked on a lot.

Don't be afraid to try medication......but then again, do not be afraid of rehoming, either. True, I too have some peeing cats and I have not rehomed them, but I envy those who have the gumption to take charge of their homes.

I'd say separate Moxie, even if that means a week at a boarding kennel! Just to see if anything changes.

I may not have the answers (if I did, my house would be pee free), but I have your sympathies. It is an awful thing to deal with.

I've had to deal with sprayers in the past as well. Finally, we had our living room carpet removed and put down wood laminate floors which helped greatly. However, we regularly have someone who has taken to peeing on any or all of my doormats. I know it doesn't help that Betina (chihuahua) still isnt' housebroken and uses them as well! I have finally just sucked up and replace my mats fairly often ... once the odor becomes too bad to disguise!

However, if I had one that was going on countertops and such, that would be the end of my rope! My house is far from sterile ... impossible with all of my cats and doggies ... but there are still a few "sacred" areas and my countertops are one of them!!!

Lori, whatever you have to do to regain your peace of mind, sanity, etc.... I will support you completely! I've had my bed peed on several times ... ruined comforters, pillows, clothing left on the floor, etc. and it's not fun!
