Tired 10-yr-old Peanut - she and doggy friend Pessa ( a rescue from Mexico, 3 yrs old) came on the 2+ hr hike. Both were given frequent water and rest breaks - but Peanut was SO happy to lie in Mom's arms at the end!

What lovely photos, and what beautiful scenery and flowers! Thank you, Candace.
Is the plant with the bell-like flowers a Lily of the Valley?
Gosh, Pat - I thought it might be LOTV, and Googled the plant....but the leaves are totally wrong. Drat
It might be an alpine variant, though...

Love the pictures!!
One of my favorite picture books in the folk tale section is about the Indian Paintbrush, by Tomie dePaola. He did the Legend of the Bluebonnet, too.
(Tomie dePaola is one of my faves for kids... his Strega Nona stories are the best!!)
Lovely scenery, love those falls. We have a lot of the same flowers growing out here but never thought of asking the names...Dogwood is one,Indian Paintbrush, wild Iris, lots of wild roses,Timberweed...now I will know the names. Thanks for the education.
Very beautiful! Looks like there are many wild flowers growing.
And I love the waterfall and the forest. It's looks so cool and refreshing!
Great scenery, thanks for sharing!
