of the more formal(openhanded) handshake. It's not even a Black thing.
    It's been used for years.
Because I know that no one on PT is "hood" or has street cred let me explain the other meaning of the fist bump.

On it's own, when one person makes that motion, it's an crude street signal meaning "procreation".

The FB is some kind of 'cool' greeting that you see on street corners and places where there is no formality.

I then went on to explain the 'Loading the cannon/howitzer/gun' motion, one half of the FB and how that can be construed as a crude reference to sex.
For the years that I have been a Mexican I have never seen anyone in my hood do the bump. Maybe the "one potato, two potato" vertical fist slam, but not the "head on" bump.

THis and the stupid gang sign schtik I know. I can do Black and Mexican.
Russian and Vietnamese gangs are more problematic.

    I don't know their alphabets.

    I can read graffti too!

    -------------

I took a sex ed class with my then GF. It wasn't a toy party or some stupid private teaching seminar.

I got some real college credits for it. It was one of the best classes that I ever took, not so much for the material, but for the way it was presented. The worst part of the class were the just out-of-high-school retards that thought everything was funny. They laughed at the trannys that came in, the gynecologist that passed out IUDs, diagphrams and condoms, the S&M gal-she was a hot redhead with blue eyes-I didn't laugh at her, she'd kick my arse....

I learned enough and probably more than I wanted to. If you go back in history and know the 'power' behind the hand, why the handshake came about, the symbolic meaning of a fist,
what it "means" in sex ed class you'll slap your head.

And I thought I was juvenile.

The handshake supposedly started in medievel times.

Knights extended their right hands to show that the were unarmed. The custom grew to the shake.

The "fist shake" was a signal to an opponent out of range that meant you were going to open the whoop arse on them.

Everyone know the "pluck yew" story about the middle finger.

Street gangs use more of a finger signing to denote gang affliation.

I also know some good vulgar sign language too.

    ----------

Just as I thought. It's the white upper class, tennis playin' gangstas that are effing up the country.

    Morons.

    --------------------

And just for the record, Did I mention or suggest that BO was a terrorist?
I merely stated that he did the fist bump and was criticized for it.

I'd love to see the post where I said that.

How can you believe you know about the personal lives of all PT people?
We may all live in "hoods" & do our own knuckle bumps all the time.

I think you are confusing the one person motion with a Italian hand
& fist gesture that displays contempt, among other things.

Are you giving me the "mal occhio" or whatever they call it?

I know enough hand signals from around the world to know what is what.

NFL hiring experts to spot gang signals

    by FOXSports.com Updated: July 16, 2008, 2:51 PM EST

Concerned that some of its players are flashing signals related to street gangs, the National Football League has hired experts to examine game tapes and identify the hand gestures, a newspaper reported Wednesday.

"There have been some suspected things we've seen," NFL vice president of security Milt Ahlerich told the Los Angeles Times. "When we see it, we quietly jump on it immediately, directly with the team and the player or employee involved to cease and desist. Period."

Ahlerich says the NFL has long warned its players about the influence of gangs. Concern intensified after Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was gunned down following an altercation involving known gang members in 2007.

The concern was raised with first-year players at the recent rookie symposium, and a video on the dangers of gangs was shown to every player in the league last year.

"Guys come from all over the country, and who knows what they're really doing?" Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Dennis Northcutt told the paper.

    ---------------------

    Another reason I hate tennis.

It's another showcase for hand gestures people don't understand.

    -------

The NFL can fix the problem by arresting the Oakland Raiiders.

Since no one claimed the prize we are going to roll over the amount and this week's amount is 27 cents.

    -----------------------------

    Here's a new definition-

Re-define- A really nice word because flip-flop means you lie to the public.

    -----------------

The NFL also banned the use of bandanas by players/playas because of the meaning behind them. Colors and the way they were worn were also signs of gang affliation.

The funniest part of the 'furor' behind the 'hand signs' is that the sports morons/writers were trying to figure out what constitutes a gang sign.

    Try sideline and post-TD celebrations?

I had to laugh when a sports show panel member tried to explain it away as guys just being stupid and kids asking their parents, when they see it happend during a game, "What does that mean?"

The kids know more than the parents do.

    -------------

I loved the BO assertion that his wife shouldn't be considered part of the media blitz behind his run for office.

You can leave her home or tell her not to speak at any kind of public function.
You can't stuff the genie back into the bottle.

And what does "judgement to lead" mean?

Is that the 'slogan of the month'? Or a push for votes in Europe and the Middle East?

How typical of the ultra-right! Never admit you are wrong. Isn't that what "right" means?????

Some people think (gasp!) and listen to other opinions and (gasp again!) change their position or ideas. Some people learn things and grow and change.

Others never allow a new thought or new information to cause them to "flip-flop."

BTW...will the NFL be hiring you to share your vast knowledge of the meaning of hand gestures?
