I am glad that you are eating, but lets try to increase the food amount, ok Killi boy? That would be a real nice thing to do for your mom and all of us here at PT!

I hope his mouth does not start getting bad again Poor thing.

Just talked to Killi's vet. We are going to pace the antibiotics more frequently. Seven days of meds, then two weeks off, then seven on. Now he doesn't trust me to hand him any food. He suspects that everything has a pill in it. This is going to be fun!
    Hope this works!!

I hope this new regiment helps, Sue. Maybe a steady blood level will help to better keep the bacteria under control. Do you give him the pill whole? Will he take it better if you mix into the food? It's so frustrating when they refuse their meds. Killi is so lucky to have such a wonderful, loving, dedicated Mom. Killi, pill or not, you try and eat a little more, ok??? Hard as it is, try and keep your spirits up, Sue. We love you guys and send you hugs and prayers and slurpy kisses. Sleep well Killian. Star will be having sweet dreams about her bestest pal, I'm sure! Love, Sandra, Star***Shine and Cody Girl!!

Well I hope this works for Killian Sue.
I know what it's like when they think everything you give them has a pill in it. When Keisha had cancer on her nose, the pills we gave her made her so moody & tired, she didn't want to take any type of good food from me or Mark. Finally we just had to pop her mouth open & shove it in Made me feel terrible, but it helped her in the end.

I wish I could just pop it in his mouth, but that is where the pain is coming from, so he clamps his mouth shut. He is a large GSD with a huge head and mouth. When I try to pry his mouth open, he yelps and runs. He doesn't want anyone around his mouth! When he goes to the vet, she can't even check his mouth, because he clamps it shut. We have to catch looks, when he's panting to see what's in there. (sigh)

Today I tried the "stuffed in a pork sausage" trick and it worked today. I'm sure later I'll have to find something else, cause he looked at me suspiciously. Guess he won't fall for that one for a while. LOL

Oh, poor boy It must be just awful for your mouth to hurt so bad.
I sure hope you can keep finding different things to stuff the pills into so he won't figure it out

    Sue,
You might try getting some fresh frozen Bil-Jac from your pet store or local feed and seed. You can thaw small amounts of it at a time and keep the rest in your freezer. You just make a meatball out of it, and the dogs love it. Never had a problem giving multitudes of pills to any of mine as long as I had Bil-Jac. Hope it will help. And most of all, I hope Killian will be feeling better very soon.
