Jack is doing great! He is still eating well, sleeping well and for the most part acting well. He does have a lot more trouble with the heat than he ever has before so we have to be careful how long he is outside but that is not really hard since he barks when he wants back in - it's just that sometimes my husband has selective hearing and if it isn't coming out of the TV or he has to move to take care of it, he doesn't hear anything.
It does seem sometimes even in the house, he is breathing harder - the vet says it is hard to know why - he could be feeling a little uncomfortable and that unless he is showing that he is pain there is little we can do. And it doesn't usually last for very long so who knows.
Since he has been eating better and since he had lost so much weight my husband has been feeding him a 3rd bowl of food at night. I have to wonder if this is a good idea because right now although the tumor seems to be pushing the colon over a little everything else seems okay. I am afraid if he puts on too much weight, it will make him uncomfortable and maybe more in pain. I hate it when dogs and kids are sick - they can't tell us what the matter is and it is hard to not know where it hurts!
Thanks for asking.
On a side note, Jack has always been a digger - he loves to dig a hole and then no matter how big or small he tries to lie in the cooler ground. Although sometimes I think he just digs to dig. He hasn't shown much interest in it this summer. I am working on a new "rock" garden and was moving some dirt around so I filled in one of his and his siblings bigger hole. Last night he was out by himself - meaning no other dogs - and I found him sniffing into the hole and starting to dig. He must be feeling a little better!![]()
