A major league milestone became a family affair for Aaron Boone on Wednesday.

The Washington Nationals first baseman earned his 1,000th hit against the Los Angeles Angels, becoming the fourth member of his famous family to achieve the feat.

Boone, 35, reached the mark with an infield single in the bottom of the eighth during Washington's 5-4 win.

His grandfather Ray (1,260), father Bob (1,838) and brother Bret (1,775) all have enjoyed the same achievement.

Boone, a veteran of 12 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Florida Marlins and Washington, becomes the 1,171st player in major league history to reach the 1,000 plateau.

In 1,101 career games played, Boone has hit .265 with 125 home runs and 543 RBIs.
