Handsome, spectacular Jake... run free and play hard! There are many awesome PT pets at the Bridge, to meet and greet you. Keep looking after your family, who will always love you and miss you terribly. Thank you for making their lives a blessing. We'll miss you, boy, and will never forget you.

We got Jake's ashes back, and put them in a lovely urn that my father made (potter). It just about broke my heart. I had thought it would give me some "closure" to have them, but it really doesn't, it just seems so sad.

I had always thought that I would keep his ashes (which I have for my other dog and 2 cats), now I am wondering if maybe I should scatter them in the ocean (which he so loved). I kindof get the feeling that he should be set free, but I"m not getting any really strong "messages" one way or the other, and if I do, I can't go back obviously.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

As soon as I read "scatter them in the ocean" I knew in my heart that would be perfect, and fitting.

Just my 2 cents, or sense, as it may be.

I, too, thought that scattering them in the ocean sounded perfect.

When my father passed away a year ago we had him cremated at his request. We decided to spread his ashes in a field that was on the property where he grew up and loved. It is a beautiful place where deer play in the morning and is just overall one of the most peaceful places I have been. After we spread the ashes I felt like I could breathe for the first time since he passed.

Just follow your gut and it will all feel right.
