Tracey - thanks so much for the info.

We're heading to Virginia in the morning for grandson #1 high school graduation - so I will have to wait until next Monday to start on this. There are a couple of places very close that sell the Innova brand. And I'm going to make an appointment to speak with my Vet about the Royal Canin.

Our cat loving neighbor will be taking care of the critters, and she knows what to look for. She'll make sure Grady gets lots of liquids.

    Mocha suffering too

    Hi all,

I am new to this site, and was just looking for some feedback on my problem.
Mocha, my adopted cat from the ASPCA has the signs of blockage. He is only 2 1/2 years old, I guess young to get this. But he has been to the doctor 3 times...testing each time, and was given high blood pressure pills, antibiotics, and antianxiety medication. Each time the medication is gone, the problems start again. In and out of the box, and drops of urine. You all know....they say it may be from stress, and that really bothers me because he is an active cat, and I live in a very small place, could that be the source of his depression?? I hope not...but I am really grasping at straws at this point. I really do not want to have to give him back to the A because he will not be adopted too soon with his problems...but I do no want to be the source of his problems either!! This problem is very frustrating to me because the doctor keeps saying it could by caused by this or that, we can do this and that, but in the meantime, it just keeps recurring. Please, somebody help me here, all and any advice welcome!!

I would love to send picture of my Mocha, but have not mastered that yet, but he is gorgeous and very sweet!!

    Anyway, thank you for listening...

I sent her a pm awhile ago with the exact same message. Mocha deserves his very own thread

What kind of signs is he showing?

What kinds of tests were done?

Maybe he needs a prescription food.

Smudge likes the c/d dry, but not the canned! So he gets c/d kibble, plus a low-magnesium canned food (his crystals were PO3) that he likes with extra water, all of his medicines, and Kitty Kaviar (a dried fish treat) mixed in.

The only medicine he's still getting for his urinary tract is Cosequin, a joint supplement that's also good for the bladder and urethra. His other medicines are for his skin, and some fiber for constipation. I mix in so much water that it's basically gravy, and most days he laps it right up. But I had to try lots of different foods to find one that would always appeal to him. He's a die-hard fishoholic, so the Kitty Kaviar definitely helps. He hasn't had urinary problems for almost 2 years now!

    Love, Columbine
