well - my second year at Eldora - was a lot of fun!!!
and If I heard it once I heard a dozen times.
"YOU are going to see a dirt track race?!?!?!?"

As Mark put it apparently everyone thinks that I am a priss. humph - just b/c I wear makeup and get my toenails done?
    anywhooo
I just like seeing the big boys on the dirt.

I didn't take very many pix - and not near as good as Anna and Amy's - but I'll look thru mine and see which ones are worth posting! let's just say - I got a LOT LOT LOT of the dirt track when I took rapid pix!

Why did they run the race on pay per view?

    That really sucks.

The money from the Pay-per view goes to charity...the Victory Junction Gang, Austism and the Tony Stewart Foundation. Last year the total was $800K. The goal for this year was 1 million to start a 2nd camp in KC, so it was more accesible to kids in the middle of the country and on the west coast.

Lat year a few weeks after the event they did start running it on Speed. I am hoping for the same this year. I LOVE being at the race, but you do miss some things, and the pit reporting that you get in the coverage. I want it all!!!

I'm sorry guys, but if you would have seen all the rain we got here (our front and back yard were flooded) you would have stayed home too! We were afraid we'd get there and sink up in the mud. And hey, we did call and tell you to come here to eat We all really missed the tailgaiting, it's one of my favorite parts of the race.

We were super happy that they didn't call the race off. By the way it looked here in Piqua, we were sure they would. So glad to get there and see the track wasn't under water!

We had a blast! Well except when we first got there and there was poo right under my seat
Didn't think I was going to have to clean any of that up at the track!

And Amy...we were happy...see (Well at least mom and I were!)

I'd post my pictures too, but they pretty much look like Amy's...lol!
But if you'd like to see, they're here...

Looking forward to doing it again next year, but with NO rain!

    ok here's my 40 pics -
I took more but like I said most were DIRT - and some of Anna's dogs today.

I am not sure anyone mentioned this - if so sorry - but they announced that about a month ago Kasey Kahne didn't have anything to do one weekend so he came down and race mini-sprint cars at the Speedway! I just think that is pretty cool. I bet those people at that race were happily surprised!

Totally understand!! We have been quiet lucky up in Toledo the past week. Not nearly the rain and storms that have been going through EVERYWHERE south of us! I guess there was just never a doubt in my mind they would race!

Hearing all the talk at the track and reading the reports later they were really close to canceling...even after we were on the road. I never her thought to check the website before we left, because I knew the skies would clear and it would happen. (And yes, those "definite" feelings have bit me the butt before! Glad they didn't this time!)

Anna, I didn't mean anything by what I posted. It was just weird the different perspectives the crew up here got with the weather having cleared up versus the ones you guys had seeing all the rain. And you do notice that I don't go to these things, chance of rain, noise, dirt (possibly mud) aren't really my things. We used to go tent camping when the kids were small and nothing was more upsetting than getting all that stuff together and then have it rain. I think the last two times we went we were rained out. The kids used to sleep in separate tents with their friends. No rain was expected but an unexpected storm hit - the girls didn't get their windows closed so everything got soaked! The other time it rained so hard that there was a small (very small) river flowing through our campsite! No not wanting to get all that stuff together and not getting to use it would have definitely been my call too!

I'm usually the same way too but I do have fun watching the big boys on the little dirt track -

And It was raining at my house - my parents house to drop Keegan off - my way to Lima - and most of the way to Piqua. I did notice it was clear in the north and thought to myself (too bad I'm not going THAT way!) And while we were sitting at Anna's house while they went to get their van, I looked out and it looked like someone was standing on their roof pouring buckets of rain into the puddles!! Heck - I was just along for the ride regardless of what happened. My philosophy was - I was off work, I was with friends, and I could at least play with the dogs!!

Did anyone notice that the sound on the truck race really sucked last night?

    RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRronhornadayRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRfirstRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRinthepitsRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRfuelRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRcautionRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RR

I spent about 10 minutes trying to adjust the sound-the engineer on that broadcast was asleep at the sound board. That was the first time I didn't really want to watch a race. I even tried to close caption it!

I wondered when I heard the Nationwide race would be in Tenn. if you were going.

I was NOT planning on going to MIS next weekend, but late changes in plans, and now I am! Can't wait for next Sunday!!!

I was at Cedar Point yesterday and didn't watch the race, but did hear the last 30 or laps on my drive home. Congrats to Brad and Jr. Motorsports!!

Does anyone else have a problem with the GEICO commercials where Lauren drives around with that toothpick in his mouth?

    UGH! That drives me nuts!

    ---------------------

I was watching the F1 races. NASCAR needs to build a course as beautiful as the Villenueve circuit. I was totally in awe of the place-it doesn't have to be a road course....

Time to get back to the races!
