I'm so sorry to hear that he's so allergic. You've been given some very good suggestions. The only other thing that I can think of is maybe buying some kind of an oatmeal based shampoo or other type of shampoo for allergies that will help to soothe his itchy skin. Maybe this would help stop him from breaking out so much. Good luck.

I was going to suggest a HEPA filter as well. I got one for one of my cats that had allergies years ago, and I still can get the big HEPA filter inside and the charcoal wraps for it as well. I did order them on ebay, and saved a TON of money. I have enough spare inserts for the next 12-15 years actually, since they last for 3 years. My mom thought I was nuts when I ordered them, but they HEPA units are expensive, and I figured might as well stock up while I can. I still use that unit, even though it was purchased originally 12 years ago, and the refills I purchased 3 years ago.

I started using the unit again when I started fostering FIV+ kitties on my 3rd floor. Bear, who is no longer with us and passed 2 years ago, had horrible allergies and sneezed and was just gunky all the time. The HEPA did help him, and I had AC for the summer (plus it was the converted attic, so it would get really hot up there without it). Right now it's being used in my bedroom because it helps me when I sleep, but also helps a few of my cats.

I did just buy a new unit that is for larger areas to be used in my living room. It was from Home Depot, and I think it was a little over $120, but it kicks butt, seriously. Furbee was a mess as soon as I opened the windows when it was getting nice outside, and she's horrible to pill, so I thought I'd try the HEPA filter instead of pills for her sneezes and gunky eyes. She doesn't have itchy skin, but the HEPA I bought is supposed to really clean up everything in the area. They do say to keep the windows closed when using it, but sometimes I even run it while having the windows open, just so I can have fresh air and hope that I can keep Furbee's allergies at bay until the pollen and all that other good stuff subsides.

Did want to ask, why can't Bobby have the one shot?? I know Bear was given shots and meds when I had him to help clear up the upper respiratory crap.

What about adding L-Lysine to his diet? Bear took that as well. It's supposed to help the immune system for FIV+ cats. He took a capsule of Immune (or Immunity) Defense as well, and that was herbal. Maybe that would help too?

Poor kitty... being miserable and itchy when it's so beautiful and sunny and warm out. Big hugs to him, and hope you can find something to help him!
