Actually I frequently think back to when I used to help my mom bake all the time as a kid. I had my own kiddie apron and oven mits. they had lady bugs on them

I LOVE THIS! Thank you so much for bringing back some truly fond memories. I still use an apron but only on Thanksgiving and Christmas because that's when I do the most cooking. I think I'll start wearing it every day. Thanx again.

I certainly remember all these things aprons were used for back then - especially in the countryside.

I have several aprons, and I use them! Not every day, but now and again. My granny was wearing one all the time, as far as I remember, and my mother used hers' quite often too.

Awww, thank you. This made me think of my grandma. She always wore an apron and used it for most of the things listed.

Boy did this thread bring back wonderful memories. There's only one thing. It was my grandFATHER who wore the apron, as he did all the cooking. He was my "Bumpy George" and I have a picture of him in my head tasting his fabulous, homemade gravy wearing an apron. He was the best cook in the world and taught me how to make gravy from scratch. When I was little, he used to sing me to sleep at night with "Goodnight Sweetheart". I miss him.
