They could be overheating, which is VERY serious and it CAN kill them.

So please don't leave them out unsupervised without shade and/or water and don't leave them out for hours at a time.

    Sun

There is shade out there and when she gets hot she will move into the shade. There is always water out there with her too. She is usually only outside for about an hour (the longest) before coming back in.
I really think my dog just has a sensitive stomach. She will be fine one minute and hacking the next. I know she doesn't feel good when she will not eat her treat and she eats blades of grass.
I hate to not let her go outside because she loves to lay out in the sun, but I may only let her our for 20 minutes or so at a time.
Thank you everyone for your advice.
I love my Jack Russells, Lilo & Stitch!

Yeah, sometimes an hour at once is just too much for some dogs. Try 15 or 20 minutes at a time, allowing her to come indoors and cool off before going back out again. Heat stroke can be VERY serious and sudden and very little can be done, so taking proper precautions may just possibly save a life.

Here is a pretty good article I found on canine heat stroke; it covers signs, symptoms, preventions and what to do if you suspect heat stroke!

EDIT: Also, it is a myth that dogs and cats eat grass when they are feeling ill. They eat grass just to eat it
