    Dog shampoo would be better.
    Cat shampoo might have something toxic to your dog.
    If it's an emergency I guess human shampoo is ok once but it may leave your dogs skin dry.

    thanks! we live outside of town and he needs a bath desperately. he sleeps with us sooooo, he needs to be clean pronto.
