MIRAMAR, FL (NBC) -- A Florida family is hoping surgery will save their six-legged kitten.
The kitten, named "Hex", was born six weeks ago. Veterinarians who have examined the kitten say that she will likely die if surgery isn't performed to remove the extra limbs.
Her owners are hoping the publicity will help them raise the funds needed for the operation.

Are they raising funds for surgery?? I wonder what is happening? That poor thing is so darn cute! gosh... I hope they can get enough money to do the surgery.
Oh god, me, too. I'm so tapped out but I'd help w/this little one. She deserves a good start in life, sweet thing.Originally Posted by jenn_librarian

WOW well it sure doesn't seem to bother her!
EDIT: Does anyone know if they have a paypal or something set up to donate funds to? I have some friends who would love to donate to this kitty but I can't find any information

Vets say that she likely would die without the surgery. That's the reason her family went to the media - hoping that her story would help to raise the funds.

Poor baby. Hope the surgery goes well. He deserves to have a good, fresh start in life.
When will the surgery be? I would like to donate to help Hex. Wishing for the best!
I just wish the baby's fundraising could be contingent on getting the mama cat spayed. I'm glad they're not automatically putting the baby down, though.

OH my goodness!! That little guy is so adorable. And he's just like any kitten, playing and running around. I just love the stripes.
I hope he is able to get surgery and everything goes well.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Foundation Formed To Help Six-Legged Kitten
MIRAMAR, Fla. - A plea for help to save the life of a kitten born with six legs has been answered.
Veterinarians said the kitten, named Hex, was supposed to be a twin, but half of his brother was born connected to him. In order to save him, he would need an operation.
To help raise money for the operation, a non-profit fund has been set up in Hex's name.
If you'd like to make a donation to the Hex Foundation, please send a check or money order to: Hex Foundation, 4281 S.W. 139th Avenue. Miramar, FL 33027 or call 954-443-1099.

Thank you for this, Candace. You are so helpful to everyone here on PT. Personally, I don't know what we'd do w/out you. As I mentioned previously, I've got financial issues at the moment but a few more dollars to donate to this sweetheart isn't going to make much difference in my finances at this point. Thanx again, girlfriend. I wish he had a different name, though.
Blessings,
Mary

Thanks, Mary - I am a research addict! lol
The kitten has been referred to as a "she" and a "he" - but I guess if the two legs and tummy belong to a "twin brother", Hex would have to be a "he".
Hex is short for Hexagon...but once he has only "four sides", maybe "Quattro" or "Cattro"?
