Hello, and thank you all for the well wishes! Boy, am I some KLUTZ!!! I had just checked the mailbox and was looking at one of my little dogwood trees. As I started back across the yard I cut through our landscaping along the sidewalk. We have a couple of those round stepping stones just for that purpose. Well, apparently my left foot rolled off of one of the stones and while trying to regain my balance, I threw my weight onto the right foot which caused it to also roll over. Unfortunately, all of my weight went onto that ankle and I wiped out onto the concrete. So now I have two bum ankles and scrapes, bruises and sore muscles. I apparently caught myself with my right hand as it has a fairly deep scrape and is sore when I try and put weight on it as well.

I was so embarrassed lying there crying on my sidewalk but I was afraid to move and couldn't get up. I had surgery on that same right foot about 8 years ago after having done the same thing to it. The whole process of that injury took nearly a year ... months of different braces, casts, boots and then finally the surgery to remove a bone fragment. My first doctor never saw the 2 fractures on the x-ray. So, even though the ER tech said there are no breaks this time, I am still leery. I have quite a bit of swelling, bruising and of course, pain.

They gave me crutches at the ER but I nearly break my neck on them right now so I've sworn them off! I think the fact that I can't really put weight on my "good" ankle and the sore hand aren't helping my balance. Right now I am keeping an armless rolling computer chair by my bed. That is the only one that will fit through the bathroom door. Let me tell you how fun it is trying to get from a rolling chair to a potty seat on one foot!

Oh well, if the boredom of being mostly bedridden for a few more days doesn't kill me then I think I'll "make it"! Sure wish I had a laptop!! Thankfully I can roll myself out to the moms and babies and check on them and give them fresh food and water. I just can't stay in my chair too long right now because I can't let my foot dangle. It's still swelling quite a bit. Hopefully that will subside soon as well.

Thank you for all the cute graphics and the picture of my dear sweet Samantha! They definitely put smiles on my face!

Helene ... thank you SO MUCH for the wonderful box of goodies for all the moms and babies and the special "pampering" items for me as well! It was perfect timing for them to come yesterday! Hubby got home late and brought the box to my bed! It was so nice to have a gift to open!!! You are the best!

    Hugs,
    Kim

Kim I am a little late finding this post but glad that I caught it in time to see your note. I am so sorry to hear all of this. Please feel all of our (((hugs))) going around you!

Be careful on that desk chair! Several months ago I wanted to remove a picture hook from a wall that was high above my head. The only chair around was a desk chair (with wheels). As I climbed onto the chair I said to myself "this probably isn't a good idea." You guessed it. The chair moved (wheels will do that! ) and I wound up on the floor. I would hate for you to wind up on the bathroom floor! Then you would have one more sore area! Please feel better soon!

Oh Kim, oh no!!!! You poor thing! Again I'll say it, I sure wish we lived closer to each other. I'd come help you out for sure. You guys just need to move to east TN so we can take care of each other.

We are deep in stain trying to stain all our decking and fence but I will try to give you a call in a day or so to check on you.

Aww Kim! That is terriable and I know you are miserable. Good thoughts and wishes are coming your way from the south. Take it easy and give them time to heal. Get plenty of purr therapy to help you heal. ((((HUGS))))))

Well, Pam, you were right about the rolling chair! I was rolling around in the living room, trying to straighten up a bit and leaned sideways over the coffee table to grab a napkin. While stretched at full reach and leaning sideways, my chair slid out from under me. I scraped my side on the table and landed rather harshly on my bottom. After that I went to bed with new sore muscles in my back. I think someone needs to tie me to the bed.

Thankfully, hubby will be home this weekend to be my 'legs'. I have an appointment with an orthopedic on Tuesday. I just want to get a specialist to look things over and nip any issues in the bud right away this time.

Thank you all for all the nice comments ... they are much appreciated!!!

Oh Kim!!! I bet the whole time you were reaching for that napkin a little voice inside your head was saying "don't do it!" I am so sorry for the big but you sound just like me! I think you are right about having someone tie you to the bed. I hope you aren't too sore this morning. (((hugs)))

Did you experience it in slow motion? Years ago, I was walking up a steep flight of stairs in a house that was built in 1865 and my (then) husband and I were restoring it. In the 1800's, nothing was true to size or form and the staircase was winding, too. As I got to the top, I reached for a stupid piece of lint that was on the hall runner and I somehow pitched backwards and went down the stairs. It all happened in slow motion and it seemed to keep me from getting injured. I know that sounds weird but it's true. You must have just gone "thump!"
    Blessings,
    Mary

Oh, my gosh... What a bummer! Especially with a houseful of kittens who will soon all be mobile. Take it easy and give your wounds the chance to heal, and get well soon, Kim!

    Hugs and purrs,
