We're required by the Building Code to have battery smoke detectors in at least two rooms of our small apartments. I have three and change the batteries when we change our clocks.








Also, it would be best to go outside (even in the cold) than to possibly trap yourselves in a bedroom. Even if the flames didn't reach you, the smoke can be deadly!

I think it has to do with the fact that I should try to fix it myself before I let others fix it for me. It comes from my mother. Luckily here, even if the house was ablaze we couldn't get stuck. There are just too many ways to get out. Once I move into a bigger place (I feel like I live in a closet) I'll be making a disaster plan, in case of fire or anything else.
