Oh no!! I hope Honey is ok. Please update as soon as you can.
I'm sorry I'm seeing this thread so late, I don't often come to the health section. But I guess something was telling me to look here tonight.
I'm going to keep checking for you online too.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.
Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Sorry to update so late... we waited at the vet for about an hour, but Honey was so good and quiet. It seemed like "Dog Day" at the vet, we were the only cat people there for the entire time.
The doctor examined Honey and said that there is a wound there, she can't tell from what, but it looks like it's healing. That means I've missed it till now! I feel so badly! She said he is REALLY bruised, shaved the area, and it's almost purple in color![]()
I just don't know what happened. I'm thinking either he fell from somewhere, or was chased by a certain cat, and landed on something sharp that injured his belly, and gave him one heck of a bruise.
I'm giving him Clavamox for the next 5 days, to make sure that he doesn't get an infection. I have to keep an eye on his belly and side to watch the bruise as well.
He was a really well behaved boy at the vet. He weighed in at 11 lbs, which is great for him, and his temp was normal at 99.9 (so, at least I'm thinking there really isn't any infection because then he'd be running a fever).
Now I just need to get meds in him for the next 5 days. That should be fun. Oh, and he needs a dental badly. So, I have to figure out when they're doing a clinic and save up for his dental. His gums are red and irritated looking. I know FIV+ kitties are known for having bad teeth, but he has so few left, I'd hate to think he's going to lose the last few that he does have. Sigh. It sure stinks to get older!
Keep Honey in your thoughts, and hope he doesn't give me a struggle with the meds. He did get some chicken selects from McDonald's tonight for being such a cooperative patient, lol. He loves them so much, I had to do something to make him feel better.
I'm glad it's nothing "serious" -- although it's always serious when it's our babies!
I am glad he was a good patient and he was rewarded with his chicken treats. Keep us posted.

How scary! That is so strange that Honeybun is bruised so badly. I think you must be right, he could have fallen from something to get a bruise like that. I could see how a cat fight would cause bleeding but not bruising.
Is there any way he could have found a way to get outside and back in without you knowing like through a basement or garage or something? Or maybe people in the house visiting roommates? Maybe someone tripped over him. My hubby fell over our cat Teenie the other day and they were both kind of shaken up.
In any case, I hope he will be on the mend with each day and feel better soon. Poor guy!!
Hugs for HoneyB! [IMG]![]()
Sorry that I missed this earlier but I'm glad that your Honeybun is ok. They sure can scare us, can't they? We'll keep the prayers going that Honeybun heals nicely.....
Blessings,
Mary

I missed this too, but I'm glad to see the update, but poor boy being hurt so.What a good boy at the vets, though.
I hope you can get the medicine in him without struggle and he will heal nicely! Do keep an eye on him - I'm sure you will!
Kisses, good thoughts and headbumpies from us.

I really think he fell over something while being chased by Zach. No one else bothers Honey. He's just a sweet, old guy and normally just naps the day away. There are these metal sculptures that my mom had gotten me that are made out of scrap metal, and they are by the fireplace, behind the one set of sofas, and a covered litterbox, and if he was chased from the sofa, which has happened before, he could have tried to get around the littebox, and fallen onto the shorter sculpture...Originally Posted by Emeraldgreen
I really am at a loss.
My 3rd floor roommate left about a month or so ago, which was a relief, so there isn't anyone else here but me. I don't remember tripping over Honbun, although I guess that's possible seeing as how cats get under foot. That wouldn't explain the puncture wound or whatever it is.
I've been trying to get him to take meds today, and after the 2nd go at it, he's been in hiding. He's such a stinker.
Normally, with the chicken from McDonalds, I'll give him the grilled kind, but by the time I got there last night, they were on the late night menu and offer only a few options, so I took the chicken selects and had to remove the crunchy portions from the outside (yeah, I had to eat some of the crunchy parts, lol, it was a sacrifice!). Today he had some yoghurt and loved that.
For now I have Zachariah in my library room. I feel bad about it, but I had him out earlier and he was cornering Sophie and Honey both. I just can't allow him to keep doing that. The vet actually suggested kitty prozac for Zach, to get him to be less aggressive. I think he just needs to be in a one cat household, so hopefully I get can him a spot in the adoption center and get him adopted. I really adore him, and hate to give him up, but I guess I really need to get him adopted at this point for his sake and for my guys.
Sounds like it must have been a combo of Zach and those metal sculptures. Poor Buns!I'm glad you only have 5 days of the meds to contend with. It's so hard to pill cats. At least it is for me. In fact, I could be the world's worst piller. I'm soooooooo thankful that my vet was able to give Tiger the antibiotic injection instead of me having to try and pill him twice a day for 2 weeks. I don't think I could have done it.
I'm sure that if you do have to find a home for Zach, that picture of him that you posted in an earlier thread with his sweet fat paws all curled up while he's napping will help find him a family! He is so very handsome. Please keep us posted if he finds his new 'peeps'.
