Suki is right - it's a young Aye-Aye. Not photoshopped.

Gosh - that one drawing on the Wikipedia page from 1863 - it looks very cat-like!

Found this image of a newborn being handled on its day of birth...a striking resemblance!

I was just going to look up the Aye Aye - and found this link with pics of different lemurs.

    http://www.dukenews.duke.edu/mmedia/...murbabies.html

And they are DIFFERENT from other lemurs (by that one pic, they are DIFFERENT, all right! )

In 2005, they were listed as Endangered.

Some of them are really lovely - and cute! Does anyone know if they make good pets?

Lemurs are endangered, and it is all because humans are developing more and more of the forest of Madagascar into human-related areas. It is sad. They are wild animals, and I have never heard of one being a pet, I am sure one would need a very special license to even get one, and they would not be domesticated or easy to handle, and want trees to climb into, and space to leap around!

We've got bunches of books on lemurs in our library at school, but I've never seen one on the Aye-Aye.

The typical Lemurs you see are so gorgeous. This one is not attractive, but has endearing, pathetic kind of look to it, ya know??

I used to be so creeped out by those guys, because of their very long fingers, until I watched something on animal planet about them, and how intelligent they are, and I went from scared to fascinated by them.

    I love those little guys!

I think this is one case where the adult is cuter than the baby!

Aw Suki beat me to it. I was knew it was an Ay-Ay the moment I saw it. I don't think they are ugly but they certainly are not cute. I learned about them on The Wild Thonberry's when was younger. See, you do learn stuff from cartoons.

    hah, where's my $10??

I generally don't like primates but when I was younger my favorite hobby was reading up on strange species and then acting like a know-it-all.
