Awwwww.....RIP wittle kitty! Distemper is such a horrible thing. When I fostered my kittens, the Whole Shelter had a Distemper outbreak, it wass uch a sad thing for all the kitties that didnt make it.

I'm so sorry to hear this. RIP sweet baby kitten. I hope that the other kittens will be able to survive this horrible disease. I'll keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

Update: All of the kittens have survived the distemper, except the one who died early. One kitten has now been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He shakes a lot and is probably blind. I'll ask my sister for more pics next time I catch her online.

    Thanks for the update!

Poor little kitten...I have read here that cats get CH if their mom gets distemper while they are still in the womb. I wonder if the little one has that, or real Parkinson's?

HUGS and I am glad the other two are ok. I hope the momcat is doing well also.

Bless your sister for helping her.

CH? Sorry, my brain isn't working much right now. I don't know much of anything about cat issues outside of feline leukemia.

Excellent catch!! Yes, it's bound to be CH. I wonder how severe? Probably pretty bad if the signs are showing already. Even so, my Ari, who has the worst case most people have ever seen, and the worst I've ever heard of except 1, has a nice, very spoiled life!! http://handicappedpets.com/wiki/inde...y_disabled_cat

The CH Kitty Club may be useful for info and adoptions; they can join at http://www.chkittyclub.com/ .

Just read about the kitten - so sorry about that. I hope the rest are all doing better. Please tell your sister to give them all a little hug.

My sister sends this update (she joined the CH forum and I believe she's joining this one):

They are on Clavamox for the distemper. They get a 5 day treatment every 10 days or so. We cannot treat the Mom because she is nursing, so they keep getting it back from her. I am pretty sure 4 out of the 5 are blind and have CH, although only 1 with CH is real bad.. (Wiggles) can't even take 2 steps. They go to the doctor this Friday to be dewormed and get updates. I sometimes catch the grey one that I think doesn't have CH eating the kitten food I feed the Mom. I put a plate of wet kitten food in there and the Mom and kittens ate together. Wiggles had to lay on her side to eat.

Oh gosh, I am so sorry to hear on the loss of one of the babies. Rest in Peace little one.

It's heartbreaking to know they have all come down with distemper and poor little Wiggles having the worse time of it.

Sending prayers out to these precious little ones.

This is so heartbreaking .... I'm very sorry!

I'm a bit confused about the antibiotic treatment though. If the antibiotic gets into the mom's milk and thus into her kittens then why can't mom take it? Unless it would be an overdose issue between what they got separately and then from mom's milk? Seems like they could alter the dosage though.
