my furkids keep their collars at all times unless they are getting a bath.
Miagi our cat is the only one that doesn't wear a collar because he comes right back after he sneaks outside. Tiger wears one because he is more sneakier and I had a little boy try to steal him and I immediately bought a collar for him and made a tag at work.
