I got an email from her husband. I've enclosed part of it here. I was very touched by it. I'm so glad I was there now! Getting LES at work. Life is sure special sometimes.

Valerie, Thank You so much for the picture and memorial to Whiskers.

I'm , the husband of , the Lady who you met at the vets office with Whiskers. Whiskers was actually our son's dog. He is currently serving with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Mosul, Iraq. We will forward the photo of Whiskers to him after we get the chance to tell him of her passing.

I'm so glad that you were there when Cathy came in because I was unable to be there as I am currently ill. You really helped her get through the moment and she felt much better because of your goodness.

God Bless You, and thank you once again.

But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.

Oh my gosh! That is so wonderful! I too have major LES.
Good for you Val, this is one of those most amazing touching moments.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Beautiful. A few minutes out of your day to assist a stranger, brought happiness to everyone, despite the circumstances.

    Update

I got an email from Gene saying I might think it was bad but he was wanting another dog. This was about two days or so after Whiskers' passing. He said that he was thinking about a Beagle. I told him that everyone is different and there's no set time limit. I encouraged him to rescue and suggested maybe an older dog because of his situation. I did a little research and found this dog as an example.

Now I don't know if this is the one he's interested in but he's applied through them to adopt one! Isn't that great? I know how important animals are for our health so I hope he's able to find a dog he likes. He's listed me as a reference and I'm going to help him all I can.

WOW - what a story...with a happy beginning for a new doggie who will have a forever home!

Whiskers must have had a hand in this....

I pray their son comes home safely - did Gene say when that is?

You might just get another email.

HUGS to you and peace to Whiskers' family.

Play happy and young at the Bridge, Whiskers.

Val, you've given their son that is fighting for our freedom a priceless gift, the last picture of his Whiskers.
