Well, I wish I had better news.
Dr. Kuschel looked at the sample I brought under the microscope and discerned that the mucus came from her nose.
She took a look at Kia's nose (something Kia did not like) and confirmed that the left nasal passage is irritated.
She's real concerned with the amount of blood Kia sneezed out.
Dr. Kuschel mentioned the possibility of cancer. She did not want to take this lightly and recommended I have the sample sent to MSU for a cytology report. They will be able to tell if there is bacteria, or infection, or abnormal cells.
They also drew blood for a full panel to check Kia's kidneys and other organs.
Her appetite has not been great this winter and she's been sneezing quite a bit.
The blood test results will be ready tomorrow morning. The cytology report will be back in 7-10 days.
Just a waiting game at this point. Dr. Kuschel said to keep my chin up and try not to worry. Easier said than done.![]()

Well, it's not bad news - so there's a lot of room for hope & optimism.Originally Posted by ramanth

I have never heard of anything like this, I sure hope its nothing serious. How old is Kia? I wonder if it could be some type of kennel cough? Has she coughed at all?

Kia is in my thoughts and prayers! Come on girl! You can do it!
Don't buy while shelter dogs die!!
good news so far.... praying you get more good news. Maybe the blood is just from the dry winter air? Sometimes my nose gets that way in winter.
Yay for good results!!!!But, we're still waiting with you for the rest.....
Does the Dr say it's an infection? Could it be just a broken bloodvessel?
We 'll pray for a good test outcome for Kia. I'm sorry she's feeling punky.![]()

They don't have the resources to check for an infection there at the office, which is why they sent the sample to MSU.Originally Posted by lizbud
