The AC guy left a little while ago. He was very nice. He said he'd never had anyone provide him a written statement. I typed one out yesterday. That threw him a bit.

There is apparently a bite mark on the kid's buttock. The skin isn't broken, more like a bruise shaped like teeth. I didn't see Mac do that, but I can't deny he might have.

This guy has no authority to make a final decision. He just collects the information. That kinda works in my favor, or it could anyway. The guy who makes the final decision knows us well on a personal level.

I asked what he thought might happen. He initially said "not much" due to the fact that Mac has no history with AC. There's never been a complaint of any kind about any of my dogs before this. He said he would consider this a fairly minor incident in the grand scheme of things, but that a dangerous dog designation is possible. He did say that he could not see a euthansia order for this. Much of what happens depends on what the victim wants. If they are satisfied with a fine or other more minor punishment, then that's what the AC department will do.

I have to file a seperate complaint about her dog, if I want to pursue that. I'm not going to. That's just going to make things worse.

It will likely be late next week before any decision is reached.

Glad the guy was nice - and you providing a written statement makes you look even better, if you know what I mean.

This week might seem to take forever - but remember that all the AC people are on your side, and on Mac's!

Hopefully the woman will calm down, and not demand anything stupid.

You're in the good here. Prayers comin' your way!

Andy got the job! Call came shortly after my last post but we were heading out to meet his parents. Orientation is Saturday and he can start as soon as he wants. He'll put in his two weeks notice tomorrow.

    Thanks for all the prayers!

He's been working two jobs. One in Detroit (substance abuse clinic) and one in Lansing (Cooley Library).

The job he got is here:
University Club of Michigan State University in their Fitness Center.

He can now quit the Detroit job and not live with his parents part of the week.

It's only a part time job so he'll keep the Cooley job.

He'll work Cooley Monday and Tuesday and at the Fitness Center Wed - Friday. It's a 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. shift, so I'll be able to see him in the mornings.

He loves working in Gyms/Health Clubs so this is right up his alley. There is room for advancement so despite taking a tiny hit financially right now (he has to start at the bottom and work his way up), it brings him to Lansing full time which will hopefully help heal our very rocky relationship.

I don't think she's worked up at all. Probably calmer than I would be if the situation was reversed! It wasn't even her that called AC. It was a friend of her husband's who made the first report. Her husband is out of town until Friday night. She left me a very nice message tonight, perfectly calm, said she just wanted to know how things were going for me since "the incident". I'm going to call her back tomorrow. I'd really like her to come over here and meet Mac when he's acting like Mac!

Tehya is fine. Her foot is still a little swollen, but she's walking normally, harassing Chum and basically acting like she always does. She has enjoyed a couple nights of big bed snuggles!

Well ... all things considered, I'd say it sounds like the interview went pretty well!

Maybe a little plush Husky cuddle toy sent to The lil Kid from Mac might help
to take the edge off things ... WITH a hand-written note from You.

Take a deep breath, {{{Hug}}} Mac, and {{{HuggA}}} Hubby.

If she'll tell me where she lives tomorrow or if she wants to come here, I will definately have flowers and pressies for the little ones. There was a little girl with her as well who was not involved at all, but was pretty upset.

I have a place lined up for Mac if he needs to disappear. Doesnt' look like it'll be neccessary, but it's there in case.

What happened with the idea that the Kid's Mom was possibly willing to just
*forget* the whole incident and not press a complaint?

Did somebody *get to her* and change her mind?
Did YOU ever get to meet with her?

Is there still a possibility that she might speak up FOR Mac to lessen his penalties?

    Could Mac adjust to Ohio?
How far is it to Whitehorse?

The father came home. He is much more aggressive. He firmly believes Mac should be put down. I have spoken to the Mom several times and to the Dad once. I have no doubt that the push for a dangerous dog designation is coming from him.

AC here doesn't usually issue anything until they the agreement of the "victim". I assume that the officer told them about the fine and dd and they agreed. The only way for them to have more input now would be if I don't pay the ticket and take the matter to court. Frankly, I don't want to do that. Not only would it cost me thousands, but it could blow up in my face. The judge would have the authority to revoke any accomodations made by AC and order Mac's death. I'll take muzzled, on a one metre leash and all the other requirements over dead.

I'll be speaking to the manager of the by-law department this week. I have ten days to voluntarily pay the fine. I'm hoping we can work out some kind of comprimise before that.

Correct me if I am wrong - But - father was not present at the time this happened? It was you, the child and his mother? Why does father get to weigh in if he was not even there? All he knows is what was told to him. Mac is NOT dangerous.

I'd be willing to speak on your behalf if you want to give me this person's name and number (or address). Any chance we can get you re-zoned so you are outside municipal limits?

Because the victim was a very young child who is unable to speak for himself, the opinions of both parents are considered in the determination. Doesn't matter if he was there or not. His child was involved so they have to get his input.

No chance at rezoning. I am already given a special permit to keep my dogs at all. If I was buying my property today, I could only have four dogs there, six if all my neighbors agreed. I was there before that rule came into effect so my dogs are grandfathered. I can not move them off my property within the city. I have to leave the city if I want to move and keep my dogs. Another musher can not buy my property.

Our plan is to move outside the city eventually, but the market is insane here right now. It is extremely difficult to find any property with some acreage that is dog team friendly(even outside the city limits, many areas ban dog teams) and that has a reasonable purchase price. A half million dollar mortgage is just not going to happen!

I don't want to have anyone else contact the department right now. If I end up in court, I will be looking for letters ect for support!
