Maltese, poodles, etc. are actually quite a bit of work grooming wise. They need to be groomed regularly. Plus they need training just like a large dog needs.
Trust me I know that. I have experience with it. Sassy gets groomed or shaved rather every 4-6 weeks or less. I know they shed but very little. I've never seen shedded hair anywhere on the floor in my house, only in her crate and her bed.
