Dear Puddy - best of luck with Dr Lee. Be nice to him, ok? He has helped you a lot!

Prayers for you and Puddy, Mary. I hope the cost is reasonable...but how does one put a price on our furkids, right? Glad to hear she is snuggling with you again.

I sure hope she is doing better now. Poor little baby.

    *Update 2/15*

Well, it's another good news, bad news scenario. Because of Puddy's symptoms, vomiting, slight dehydration and pacing, Dr. Lee thought that she might be experiencing thyroid problems. I just spoke w/another vet there and she said that her thyroid is normal. So that means her remaining kidney is acting up. She had been doing so well, too, since her other kidney was removed. She wasn't even on subQs any more. But I sprang into action as soon as she vomited and gave her a subQ and a started her on Clindamycin and I think that halted the progress of any infection. Dr. Lee said to keep up the subQs and the Clindamycin until she goes back in a month for another panel. Her BUN and creatinine were elevated slightly but they were nowhere near where they were when she was at her worst. She always responds well to fluids and her appetite is good and her litterbox habits are normal, so it's count my blessings time again. No thyroid problem so I don't have that to worry about. We'll get this kidney thing under control. She's resting behind my computer right now.

I was kinda nervous when I took her in because she didn't let out a peep when I put her in the carrier or the entire 45 minute drive there. BUT when Dr. Lee took blood, etc., the old Puddy was back w/a vengeance. He said "Well, I need a vacation after Puddy! Boy, is she ever mad at me!" And she wasn't too pleased w/me either after that. But she was quick to forgive. She doesn't hold a grudge like Creamsicle does. So, that's it. I'm feeling optimistic. Gonna watch a little TV, take a hot bath and try to get some shut eye. The Sandman has been a stranger long enough. Thank you again, my dear PT friends. I don't know what my fur posse and I would do w/out ya.
    Blessings,
    Mary

    *Update 2/16*

Dr. Lee just called. He said that Puddy's phosphorous levels are high, so he wants to start her on a phosphorous binder to be mixed w/her food. He said that he hopes that this isn't a sign that her other kidney is beginning to cause more problems. Oh joy. Just when I thought I could exhale. The binder is nasty tasting, I guess, so I can't imagine Puddy eating her food. He said that it's probably going to be necessary to do an ultrasound on her remaining kidney so that we can get a better prognosis. It's the prognosis that I don't want. I don't want to know. I just want to enjoy my Puddy for as long as possible and not have a number in mind as to how long that will be or it might be a self fulfilling prophecy. Oh man, I woke up w/such a positive attitude this morning. Now this.
    Blessings,
    Mary
