Robin - I am so glad you are home, and with family for a while.
What I am really happy to see is that you seem to know there is a path to follow, since you said, "I have a long way to go." It takes time to unlearn and relearn stuff, and this will be an interesting and rewarding journey for you (just basing this on my own past experiences).
I know money is a concern - but when you can, maybe 'redo' the old home. Move the furniture around, paint a wall, get some neat stuff from Freecycle and make it new and YOUR home!
