My kitty Minion was an unexpected adoption. Kersey, also, was an unexpected adoption.

Jennie (Jenn_Librarian) fell in love with Woody threw his pictures and hearing his story, so not sure if that can be added to the "unexpected" catagory, as she wasn't expecting to be getting a puppy, and certainlly not a puppy from TX.

    Good thread, Pam!

There are certainly plenty of unintentional adpoptions here. Hmm, how many has Glacier unintentinally adopted...lol.

I always hope that someday an unintentional adoption happens for me .

See, I knew I was forgetting a ton of them! I should have started one for the kitties too. I remember years ago when Bad Butter Boy came into Logan's yard and never left.

There are a few dogs here that I went and intentionally adopted. Muskwa was from a breeder so we did that on purpose. Earle was intentional too. Hoodoo(RIP) was our first rescue dog, but we definately planned to keep him from the start. Kayleigh was deliberate, not well thought out, but definately intentional.

I wasn't looking for Sleet, but she was brought home quite intentionally. I told Paxil's owner three years in advance of her arrival that I wanted her! Pingo and Sundin are from a musher friend. I needed a leader, Pingo needed a less serious team to lead. Sundin is her son and I just couldn't refuse her kid.

Fate made sure Hobo stayed with me. He was supposed to be a guest for a week and wasn't even up for adoption when he first arrived.

Heyoka was Stuart's idea because in his words "we deserve an easy one." We took Raven out of the shelter the same day to balance things out. She was the dog who needed out most and had the poorest adoption prospects.

Deuce, Mac and Ozzy were called fosters at one point, but there was never any real intention of letting them go. Deuce would be extraordinarly difficult to rehome as he's really a wild child. Mac and Ozzy had to stay together and Mac has a bite history, which limits his options.

I stole Bandit so I guess you could say he was intentional. I didn't need another dog, but he needed out and his owners were idiots.

Foster failures----Franklin, Pacer, Founder, Delta, Antare, Chum, Goldie, Founder, Chase, Anvik and Preacher(RIP).

I didn't want Tehya. Said no repeatedly over the course of about ten days. I am grateful every day that I ignored my better judgement with her!

What about you Pam? I seem to remember something about either 1 or both of your cats. Weren't the unintentional? Please refresh my memory.

I also forgot to add and I'm not sure that this counts because I was looking for a little orange male kitten at the time but I called a few animal rescue groups and left messages telling them that I was looking for a male orange kitten to adopt and that I'd prefer a long haired cat.

I received a call from one group and she said that they do have an orange male but he's short haired and he's about 6 months old. She said do you really want a small kitten? I told her I'd go look. Well when I saw my future Sunny it was love at first sight. He was such an interesting looking cat because he was long and thin and I'd never seen a cat like that before. They said he was most likely an Aby mix which meant nothing to me at the time because I didn't even know what an Aby was back then.LOL

He turned out to be 8 months old which is still technically a kitten and he was very energetic which is also what I was looking for. He fit in prefectly and I'm so glad that I decided to go look at him. After I had him a few days another rescue group called me and said that they didn't have any orange male kittens right now but that they could keep me on their list and let me know when one came in. I told the lady that I had already adopted a wonderful orange male kitten and she was glad to hear this.

You have a good memory! Trevor was smuggled into my home late one night by my son after I was asleep. He and his friend had gotten Trevor at a pet shop to replace his friend's grandmother's cat who had recently died. She didn't want another cat (at least right at that time) so my son brought him home. Once I saw that little 3 lb. cutie pie we didn't need to talk about what to do with him. He was staying here, and I had never had a cat before that so that was really saying something.

Andy was found at a yard sale by my mother. She asked me to come and just *take a look.* Well, taking a look is just about the same as holding. You are putty in their hands at that point!

Well since we're talking cats here also, you could say Sassy was unintentional. She found me walking down the street one evening right near our home in a wooded area. I really didn't want a cat and hubby really, really didn't want one. But I couldn't leave her out on the street, she was so little. So I decided to take her in and find her a home. She'll be 9 this summer.

I know the old "find them a good home " thing. I am defenseless.
