Is he a red or orange colored cat? If so it seems like they get more freckles or dark spots on their noses and lips as they age. My cat Sunny has a lot of dark spots on his lips and it's just a normal thing with orange cats. If your cat is a different color then maybe you should take him to the vet to be cheked out just in case. Good luck.
