Dear, sweet April....what a lovely little dog you are! I am so glad your former owner decided to give you up; that was your lucky day!
Until he died a few months ago, I had a 17 year old poodle mix who was also deaf and blind, so I know well what you are going through. It must be very difficult for you, and for your person, but I'm sure he/she is more than happy to do whatever is necessary to make you happy and comfortable.
I wish you a very happy new year, and wish I could give you a big hug! Do stay well and eat lots of treats today as DOTD!
Dot

. April found her heaven on earth when you saved her and thanks you every day I'm sure. Recently I looked for information online on helping blind dogs as a friend of mine has one - I was fascinated at the different ways of helping them (bell on their collar so you know where they are) etc. Hopefully many others will read April's story and know that blindness and/or deafness is NOT a reason for euthanasia. Patience is the key and their love in return makes it all worthwhile.
Please have your pets sterilized as soon as possible to lower, and one day hopefully eliminate, unwanted and abandoned pets. It IS our responsibility. Adopting from a shelter also helps - encouraging breeders just adds to the overpopulation.
