Oh - it probably just needs to be cleaned. Flip it over, and if you can open it up, you'll see gunk wrapped around the wee little wheels - clean that off and it'll be good as new!

If it is an optical mouse like mine it may be just on it's way out and you may have to replace it. If it is a ball mouse then flip it over and pop out the ball make sure to clean the little wheels inside as all the dirt and grime sticks to them. That should clear up the problem. And if it is cordless then it could very well be the batteries.
It is not battery operated and has no ball. It is a laser light or something?

BATTERIES. OR, it also needs a cleaning!
I don't know if Energizer has its line of lithium batteries over there in AA and AAA, but have a look for them. They are a bit more expensive (shop around) but last 'forever'!![]()
