I was hoping you would post an update, Collin. I'm sorry I even had to ask.
But if your mom's friend took her to her vet - and she used to be a vet - I guess that's the best you can do.

I have been informed extensively of Collin's 'situation', and have heard the most extraordinary reasons behind not being able to do this/that/the other, and it just seems that his savings of 1 penny (yes, you read that right) and his home being completely isolated for miles and miles, yet still contained within a small town, he just cannot get that doggie to a vet.
But it's OK, because daddy's getting him a shiny new dell computer for Christmas!
So, we can all relax now.
(insert rolly eyes here)
How old are you Collin? Just curious.
Collin is 13.

Yes, i am. Ok lets just everyone just chill. Stress and arguing is what destroys our lives single-handedly. Preventing it makes your life much better.Originally Posted by Catty1

You know, I am really getting sick of this crap. It's excuse, after excuse, after excuse. AND as long as you're still getting your computer that's ok! Let's just not worry about Reggie, or the rent, only the new computer that will boost your reputation.![]()
Collin claims to be a 13 yr old who apparently has the following attributes or characteristics:Originally Posted by sasvermont
1. Can kludge together computers from parts.
2. Not hesitant to buy off of Ebay.
3. Confident enough of his computer knowledge to be willing to trouble shoot an adult's computer problems. Hint to Collin: You're not there yet.
4. Can post on the Internet from 4PM past midnight, and be fresh and ready for the next day. I needed 10 hrs of sleep when I was that age.
5. Able to keep chilled, while causing the adults he is conversing with to bounce off the walls. Not bad technique for a supposive 13 yr old(?).
Typical Reggie post one every other month or so in frequency:
1. Symptoms are usually serious (latest episode suggests a kidney stone or the like). The dog's symptoms usually indicate the dog is suffering more than just a little.
2. There is always the theme of asking what can be done, with the caveat the family is broke, and can not afford a Vet.
3. Almost an anticipation of the possible responses with most well thought out, but a few responses with well designed holes in the logic so as to provoke more discussion down a blind alley.
Over all the monthly or bi-monthly Reggie is sick again post does offer the forum a chance to discuss the health issue brought up, or learn about a topic that might affect one's own dog(s) in the future. From that perspective the Reggie is sick again post can be self-educational once you get past the emotional set up of the post.IMO I find the Reggie is sick again posts less annoying than posts of people wanting to know how to breed dogs for the fun of it after the fact. Thank goodness Reggie is a male!

Ok you got all of that right except that i have fixed my teachers computers once and I have only posted 2 Reggie is Sick threads. Here are an few things everyone should know about me:Originally Posted by dragondawg

- I get mad when everyone else gets mad
- We live in an very rual area with poor people
- I try to keep cool when everyone else around me gets mad, have heard that getting mad is not good for your heart
- Our car is only available after 6:30 PM because my dad drives it to work and back
- My dad only gets paid $10 an hour. He has to pay all of our bills and rent with that
- I love reggie to death and i always want the best for her

Can I just make a suggestion. I'm not saying you have to do this, but just for Reggie, maybe you could get a job where you get paid and save up money. I walk dogs for $12 a week and when Snow stopped eating, I paid for the vet with that money I saved up.
Just a suggestion. Trying to help.
Let's add just a few other things to keep in mind when coming to conclusions...Originally Posted by Reggie
A 13 yr old who understands the concept of device drivers on a computer- very few adults do. At least he knows how to fix computers better than his teachers.
A 13 yr old who has run Linux as the OS prior to getting XP. For those who have never installed Linux from scratch it's not as simple as sticking a CD into a drive. Neither is maintaining Linux a joy. Quite a feat for a 13 yr old. Or was it a dual boot system? Figuring out where to put the boot block for each OS can be a lot of fun.
A 13 yr old living in a rural area in an apartment. I have visions of a multi-family farm house which seems strange. None the less said 13 yr old posts at all hours day and night, but still has time to worry about what is going on in Myanmar. Did I really worry or have political concerns about the build up in Vietnam when I was 13? Ok raise your paws - did anyone when they were 13 care about social/political events in a foreign country?
A 13 yr old whose father makes $400+ per week, at a rate of $10/hr. Assuming a 40 hr work week: $10/hr * 40 = $400. Now what ever happened to the 15% Fed tax? Guess the poor guy could be working 50 hrs a week.
The net result is a 13 yr old that claims to come from a very poor family. That family includes a mother with epilepsy. This implies Medicare, drug company programs for the poor to provide the required medication. All based on financial need. Yet the same family can toss a 13 yr old $400 (a week's pay) for a computer, and other trinkets to attach.![]()
Computers as a hobby is an expensive one, even for a middle class family. Let's not forget the slow dial up ISP charges per month- probably $10. Must be a bear to upload and download all of the images mentioned in various postings! Ok that time again: For those of us who came from a low middle income or low income background - can you remember a time when you were in your early teens and received an item for your hobby that constituted 1 week's of family income? Yeah I know, remembering back that far might be a test for one's memory, as it is for me. But I do not recall such an occurance.
While trying to spark long dead memory cells: Can you remember the first time you encountered a computer? How many years did it take for you to feel confident that one could add or replace memory modules, or replace an old phone modem (dial up) - drivers again. How many years did it take until you felt confident enough to trouble shoot or give advise to others on computer hardware issues? Now subtract that number of years from the number "13". Plug in being a teen confident enough to advise adults.
The conclusion I come to Collins is that you are either a precoious 13 yr old, or a precoious troll. If the former then congradulations you will not be poor all your life. If the later- you need to make sure all posts are more consistent with each other.
Guys...
I think we should stop posting
I agree with most of you.. but you guys know the more we reply the more power it give him.
Makes him feel hm... what's the right word... POWERFUL that he can tick us all off.
Here is my reason why i cant rehome reggie:
Reggie is what keeps my mom company all day, reggie is what tells my mom when she is about to have an siezure, reggie is also the one that sits by my moms side when no one is home and she has an siezure, now you see my reasons why. My mom would be lost if she had an siezure and couldnt rememeber where she is without reggie. She comes to my moms side and starts whining when she is about to have an siezure. I have been trying within my limits to get reggie to the vet but i just cant.
I know I know.. I posted about the power thing but whatev
I am very sorry to hear about your mother. That is heartbreaking
BUT you have NOT tried to get HELP FOR YOUR DOG! Sure you asked here.. but that's not cutting it.
You can mow lawns, walk dogs, pass out flyers, etc etc YOU CAN DO THINGS but you don't..
You give us a lousy "I will consider it"
