It's about 5 months old.

I had heard about this stuff from Slick - she knows someone from Germany, whose daughter still lives over there and raves about the stuff.

It is supposed to help older scars as well...and there are a few acne scars I would like to try it on.

Ingredients are cepae(from onions), heparin, and allantoin.

I'll be reporting back!

PS I got the shipping update via email today - they say 5 - 15 business days, and that it was shipped the 26th (over the dateline in Hong Kong?)

Glad this all worked out for you Catty.

My housecleaner, Barbara, is German and her son and daughter-in-law still live over there. Her DIL had breast cancer surgery and she used this stuff and the scars are almost invisible....according to Barbara.

I was going to get some to put in my surgery scar but my arms aren't long enough to reach my back.

slick - not trying to be funny here, I was just thinking of the little plastic spatulas that I now put certain skin products on with.

What about a regular kitchen spatula, but with the smaller rubber end? Might that work?

A little practice looking backwards in the mirror, maybe.

Just a thought.

I don't know that I've seen it in stores ... and I don't know that a product containing heparin would be sold over the counter ... but I'll certainly go on the hunt for you catty.

I am a keloid scar person, too. Thankfully, I have not had any major surgery that would leave a scar, but I know it would be awful if I did. My worst two scars are on my right shoulder and my right hand, but over time, they have settled down and aren't so red and raised anymore.

I had a pre-cancerous mole removed on my shoulder and the healing process was awful. I have had shots of steroids injected there, years ago, to try and calm down the redness. My mother is one of those people who scars badly and she was determined that I wouldn't have such a bad scar. I have no feeling in that area and if someone rubs it, I can't feel a thing. Strange stuff.

I had a bad burn on my right hand when I was in high school. We were making candy apples at church and I got some of that hot liquid on my hand. The healing process was awful and I didn't go to the doctor. I think my mother has always felt some guilt about that, but she shouldn't. They did what they thought was right at the time. That particular scar was awful, as if someone took a bite out of my hand, right where my thumb and index finger connect. I had surgery on that spot twice, by a plastic surgeon, who wasn't happy with the first results. He ended up going in that fleshy place where your thumb and index finger join, the second time, but still, I have a pretty nasty scar. At least it isn't red and "angry" anmore. Time has taken care of that.

Wish some of those miracle things were out there when mine were fresh. I went through lots of pain and trips to a neighboring city as a result, and probably would have been fine if they had just been left alone. Live and learn.

Oooohhhhh, thanks for posting about this, Candace...and Slick too! I don't usually Keloid, my hospital scars healed beautifully. But I had several pre-skin cancer biopsies done on my chest area and one keloided and I hate it. It bothers me more than the thing she biopsied!! And the chest? Come on, I'm a girl!! Ugh.

I'm going to go look for that at our pharmacies around here. I've never, ever seen it, let alone heard of it. I wonder if my pharmacist can order it for me? Hmm...I think I'll call him at lunch today...I want my keloid GONE!!!

I hope it works wonders for you, Candace. Thanks to all that helped with finding it for her and suggestions that benefitted us all.

That's what I was thinking too.

Catty, you don't want to put this over a LARGE area of your body if this indeed does have heparin in it. Heparin prevent clotting. Careful.

This scar is 5 months old...and not wide at all...won't be putting it all over everywhere!

I think the small amount of heparin is to help break down the keloid. Also - this takes discipline and a few weeks, so is not an overnight thing.

I'll post again with updates.

Meanwhile - the Elastoplast Scar Reducer is pretty good! No chemicals - it is a 'second skin' which allows the skin to maximize its own healing powers.

Hi. Thanks again to Taz!

Well, I ordered it on the 26 of October (this side of the day/time zone), and the postmark on the padded envelope said it was sent the same day.

It arrived Thursday November 8. Not bad when you consider Canada has no Saturday delivery!

I pretty much knew it was from Hong Kong, and the postage stamps confirmed it. My only fear was that the package contained some generic stuff with Chinese writing all over it.

NOPE! It was in a real Contractubex cardboard container, with the proper writing on it - Merz, Germany and instructions in 3 languages. The tub inside had bubble wrap around it, and a sheet of more detailed instructions.

It's to be used several times a day for several weeks. I started Thursday night. Just before that I took "before" photos.

Have you ever taken pics of your own abdominal scar with the macro setting on your camera? At least the flash got rid of camera shadows!

So - for inquiring minds - I will have B4 and after shots (by email only!). I intend to take photos weekly.

BTW - the stuff is not thick, and has a very pleasant scent. Gently perfumy, not harsh.
