You pretty much pay for religion there.

You pay for baptism, confirmation, quincenera (sweet 15) and weddings-you rent the church for the ceremony or mass.

Most churchgoers in Lost Angeles are Mexican and out of that percentage there are still the hard core members of the church that believe that you have to do it the 'church way' or you go to hell.

I have seen and know or people who spent literally thousands of dollars for a baptism, sweet 15 or wedding-The prices for those masses are going up.

Catholic/private school, where they teach you a little couth, god and manners
are also charging more, again due to the fact that the lawyers got in there and stuck it to the church.

I happen to like my occasional mass-but when the Save Our School article in the Sunday scorecard says that the price of school lunches, breakfasts and tuition is going up because the area churches are bankrupt, that kinda p!sses me off.

Why? because my faith was hijacked (kinda like an homicide bomber, but by using kids, not bombs) and all the innocent people have to pay for a sin that didn't even involve them..

    Nice.

I just hope that I can do a Christmas Eve/New Year's Mass without having to pay admission-I just may have to bring my own holy water too!
Or I can buy the 1.5 liter-taken from the Sea of Galilee brand!

Richard, this is all BS & if you do attend church regularly, you know it.
Why are you making all this stuff up?

Kinda how I feel about the Iraq War! a war I didn't want...has nothing to do with me (let me save you some typing...Iraq was not involved in 9/11...even Bush admits it) and lots of innocent people killed and lots of innocent people paying for the sin...

    hmmmmmm......

Are you suggesting that the problem is with attorneys that are able to bring this problem to the attention of the public? Are you suggesting that the priests who betray the trust of the members of the church have no responsibility for the results of any law suit? Are you suggesting that the church who put these people in positions of authority over our children have no responsiblity in the outcome of this action? Of course they do. It is easy to say it is the money hungry lawyers or the victims fault. Much easier than saying that the church should take responsibility for the harm it has allowed, because then some of the money may come out of your pocket.

I think your peeve is with the church and the way they are spending your money, and not the people who are being harmed by the people the church has hired and are paying to be in positions of authority.

    Oops!

You make a nice donation to the church (rent a priest, rent a mass, rent the church) and they'll do a mass for you!
Our church also has a hall that you rent!

    Like what's the diff?

    ES,

    What war?

Is this the same war that the Democrats could have stopped if they had won the White House?

I guess we can blame them for not having enough huevos or sesos to win the election.

    Liz,
    Did you say something?

Check out the HUGE church in lost angeles the RCC just built. 15 Dollars to park, a gift shop and some other BS.

It costs to park to visit a church. We do things a little different here in the armpit of the U.S.

Our parish charges for all services.

    ------------

Today the bishop in charge of the Emmeffer was in court to answer about his sending him to Canada for therapy.
    -------------

When my dad died the parish priest did not want to say the mass for him.
Why? Because he was not 'recognized" by the parish - Yet they took his money when he rented the parish hall for fundraisers and dances.

Well, Richard, too bad you had a crappy church. Maybe you should have changed parishes.

It's the same all across the El Lay area.

And this surprises you? How else do the non-clergy staff get paid and the utilities paid also?

The electric bills in some of those large buildings are pretty scary.

Some parishes are scary........Maybe they can dress them up as haunted houses and charge admission?
