Don't beat yourself up Lori. Cats are masters at hiding things from us. Hopefully it's nothing major. Maybe the leg has been injured by one of the others. Prayers are on the way for you and Scout. Please keep us posted!

    Back from the vet!

She gave Scout an anti-inflammatory shot. She said there is an area going down towards Scout's paw that seemed to be especially sore to Scout and it could possibly be a fracture but she thinks more than anything it is arthritis. She said after watching Scout walk and feeling down her back where she felt a knot in her lower spine she thinks Scout has arthritis in her lower spine. She wanted to know Scout's history before I adopted her and all I could tell her was that someone rescued Scout from two boys who put her in a backpack and was playing football with her. That person took her to a local rescue shelter where they discovered she was pregnant and spayed. They guessed her to be around 8-9 months old at that time. She was in the shelter for several months before I adopted her.

The shot is suppose to last about 24 hours so I am suppose to watch her closely to see how she does on it and how she does when it wears off and then let the vet know Wed. morning to decide what the next step is. She said a lot depends on how she responds. We will decided then if an x-ray is needed to rule out fracture and/or arthritis.

Scout is also on antibiotics for a week to be on the safe side. The vet said it will probably help her weepy eye too.

Poor Scout. She's my heart kitty and I just hate seeing her hurt. She cried the whole way to the vet and most the time we were there. Usually she doesn't make a sound.

Poor little Scout and poor Mommy!!!! No doubt she could have arthritis from those idiot kids!!!! Maybe she was injured back then and now it is just now developing arthritis as she ages. I hope the medicine relieves the swelling and she will feel better!!!

Poor Scout.. I hope he heals soon. My one girl cat Claudia is overweight (we are trying to work on it) and she is the only one who has problems jumping up onto high things but that's because of her weight I think. We have used the tidy cat little buckets and filled them with some heavy rocks so she can use that as a jumping start to get up to her place.
